TYNTYNDER has three teams already in junior netball grand finals, after downing Kerang at Woorinen on Saturday.
The Blues’ teams will be hoping to regroup at Barham on Saturday and earn the right to have another shot at the Bulldogs.
17 and under
KERANG turns its attention to Nyah Nyah West United after going down by just two goals to Tyntynder on Saturday.
The Blues trailed by four goals at the first change, fighting back to level the scores at the main break.
Tyntynder worked its way in front in the third quarter and was just ahead when the final whistle blew.
Blue Stephanie Runciman and Tyntynder’s Natalie White were the best players.
The Blues now face a Dees side that downed the Mallee Eagles 48-28 in a strong second half at Swan Hill.
After leading by just one goal at the main break, the Demons doubled their score in the second half while restricting the Eagles’ output.
Demon Aleesha Flanagan and Eagle Phoebe Bett were the best players.
15 and under
TYNTYNDER is favoured to take out the flag after flexing its muscle to overpower Kerang 58-33 in the second chance final on Saturday.
The Blues were never really in the hunt after trailing by 10 goals early and losing every quarter.
Tyntynder’s Laura Anderson and Kerang’s Sophie Peacock were named best.
The Blues take on Lake Boga at Barham on Saturday. Boga was three goals down at quarter time of Sunday’s game against Woorinen and, unable to make headway in the second quarter, the Pies remained in arrears at half-time.
A strong third term saw Lake Boga take the lead, with the Magpies finishing more strongly than the Tigers to take out the game by four goals.
15 and under reserve
KERANG challenged Tyntynder all day at Woorinen, but it was ultimately the Bulldogs who prevailed with a strong last quarter to win by three goals.
The Blues won the first three quarters to start the last term three goals up.
But it was all Tyntynder in the last, with the Bulldogs shooting 11 goals to the Blues’ five to overtake Kerang.
Rylee Engley was the Bulldogs’ best player, while Breeana Basile battled hard for Kerang.
The Blues take on Cohuna in an appropriate match-up at Barham, after the Kangas proved too strong for a gallant Lake Boga.
Boga had the better of Cohuna early in Sunday’s knockout semi, with the Pies jumping out of the blocks and leading by six goals at half-time.
The Kangas got going after the main break, cutting the margin back to three goals at the last change and overrunning Boga in the last term.
Cohuna’s Sharna Goulding and Boga’s Jess Whitfield were the game’s best players.
13 and under
SWAN Hill progressed to the grand final with a nine-goal win over Lake Boga at Woorinen.
In a tight game, the Swans took the lead early to be up by one goal at the first change and two at the main break.
The sides were deadlocked with five goals each in the last quarter, ensuring the Swans held on to the two goal advantage.
It was Swan Hill that broke the game open in the last, shooting 10 goals to three to take the win.
Taylah Simpson was best on court for the winners, while Dayna Kelly-Guthrie was strong for Boga.
Boga now tackles Tyntynder, after the Dogs had a win over Woorinen at Swan Hill on Sunday.
Woorinen started more strongly of the two to lead by two goals at quarter-time.
The Bulldogs hit back with eight second-quarter goals, to be up by four at the main break.
Woorinen challenged in the third quarter, but the Bulldogs held on.
Meg Hogan played well for Woorinen, while Lily Stacey was in form for the winners.
