AN APPROPRIATELY named gelding claimed victory in Sunday’s Quambatook Cup at Swan Hill.
The Kirsten Mooney-trained Snip ‘N’ Run raced away from a strong field to claim the 41st edition of the event since its 1973 move to Swan Hill.
The six-year-old was steered to cup glory in perfect spring conditions by Dean Yendall, with Rainbow Storm and Caves making up the placings.
The big day of racing drew to a close a busy weekend of local sport, with the Swan Hill Jockey Club presenting its annual awards.
The trainers’ awards went to Trainer of the Year Darren Weir and Local Trainer of the Year Austy Coffey, while the Horse of the Year award went to Cent To Save.
Dean Yendall was named the Swan Hill Jockey Club Jockey of the Year, while the Mark McCormick Memorial Award for apprentice jockey of the year was won by Harry Coffey.
Fashions on the Field also proved popular with Hannah Rosel winning the Junior Racegoer award.
The Racegoer of the Day went to Krystin Rosel, while the Lady of the Day was taken out by Loris Kelly in a classic black and white duo. Courtney McClelland judged the fashions events.
