Soccer club celebrates season

SWAN Hill Soccer Club held its annual presentation night last Friday.

The Division 2 and youth teams had successful seasons in the Bendigo Amateur Soccer League, with both sides making the finals.

The youth finished runners-up in the Knockout Cup, finishing second on the ladder and just losing to Strathdale in the grand final. Division 2 finished fourth on the ladder and lost their first round of finals.

The youth team’s best and fairest was won by Sheer Mohammad, with Tyson Fox, Jalal Kargar and Shannon Rain locked in a three-way tie for runners-up.

The coach’s award went to Ali Al Hasani with special mention to Sedaqat Ali.

All players vote each week for their Player of the Day, which was won by Tyson Fox this year. Fox also won the Golden Boot award for scoring the most goals during the season.

Joseph Pino scooped the Division 2 awards, being named best and fairest, Player’s Player and Golden Boot. Runner-up best and fairest was Simon Makur. Coaches award went to Dominic Makur.

Life member John Piper also presented the John Piper award to Trevor Lewin.

Pino’s brilliant year was also rewarded with the league’s Division 2 best and fairest and Golden Boot.
