MORE than 220kg of coloured powder is set to be thrown across 800 keen runners at Swan Hill’s first Colour Your Run this weekend.
From humble beginnings as part of a TAFE subject for a group of local students, news of the event has spread far and wide with some set to travel from as far away as Queensland to participate.
This will include a team of about 60 people — the largest to take part — who plan to walk 6km in remembrance of a close family member.
Team O’Sullivan will see brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles and cousins come together to remember Karen Campbell, who lost her brave fight with breast cancer 10 years ago in April.
But making the day even more special for the tight-knit family is celebrating Karen’s 49th birthday, which happens to fall on the exact day of the run.
She was diagnosed with breast cancer at just 38 years old, with it initially showing up as soreness in her breasts.
