THREE Swan Hill girls were among the celebrations when an Australian team won the Under 18 girls’ division of the 2014 Singa Cup last week.

Megan Williamson, Tara Thomas and Maggie Smith all played an integral role in the Footskills side which claimed the title over sides from Western Australia, Philippines and Singapore.

Footskills’ first game saw the girls go down 2-1 to Miriam Girls (Philippines), which proved to be their only loss for the tournament.

Their second and third games were wins over Ateneo de Davao (Philippines, 1-0) and German European School (Singapore, 2-0).

Footskills drew its fourth game with Football West from Western Australia 0-0, before taking on the Miriam Girls side in the tournament decider.

A Maggie Smith goal saw the Aussie girls win 1-0 to finish off a successful competition.

The trio thanked sponsors and Swan Hill residents for their support in helping them get to the tournament.
