Christmas lights shine in Swan Hill

A BRIGHT aura is beginning to emanate from neighbourhoods across the region.

The light discrepancy, often known to occur at this time of the year, has the effect of making drivers creep around suburban streets at a slow pace late at night, perhaps in a daze.

Children have been known to become attracted to the light source. Neighbours are driven into a competitive frenzy over it.

The cause of all this seasonal mayhem: Christmas lights.

Decorations are slowly coming out across the Swan Hill region and a number of traditional favourites are back, such as Reg Janetzki’s Domaille Crescent display.

“I’ve been been doing it for the last 30 years,” Mr Janetzki said. 

“I started off with one set of lights and now I change it up every year.

“I do it for the kids — and I’m the biggest kid going.”

Mr Janetzki sees many people driving by to see his display and has counted as many as 40 cars in one night.
