THE Swan Hill Red Cross has reached a huge milestone — its 100 year anniversary.
The local branch was initiated in 1914 with 63 members.
The group have spent the past centenary caring and helping many locals in the area.
When natural disasters have hit, the Red Cross have been there setting up shelters for the community.
They are also on hand to support families during personal disasters such as house fires.
Marg Treseder has been secretary for the past 15 years and said she was proud to be a part of the group.
Now with 32 members, the branch has run an endless number of fundraisers from mini markets to spinning wheels.
Last year they raised $11,000 just from the Red Cross Calling fundraiser alone.
Ms Treseder said Red Cross had been a huge part of her life.
“I grew up with Red Cross,” she said.
“I’ve made a lot of friends through Red Cross which has been terrific.”
Ms Treseder encouraged locals to become a part of the organisation as it was looking for members to join the team.
“We meet on the first Friday of each month at 10.30 at the Swan Hill Club, except for January.”
