Balranald mourns car crash victim

THE Balranald community is in mourning following the death of a 45-year-old local tragically killed in a head-on collision near Kerang on Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred on a straight stretch of the Murray Valley Highway, about 30 kilometres north-west of Kerang, around 9.10am.

Emergency services arrived to find the black four-wheel-drive utility overturned and resting against the container of the truck, which had turned on its side in the accident.

Investigations continue into the cause of the accident.

The male driver of the utility died at the scene.

The truck driver was not injured and was treated at the scene.

Traffic was diverted at Lake Charm and Lake Tutchewop for several hours as the scene was investigated and clean up took place.
