Ear bitten off

A MAN allegedly had part of his ear bitten off during an altercation in Swan Hill on New Year’s Eve.

Swan Hill police were called to a residence on Gray Street just two hours before midnight last Wednesday following reports of two men engaged in a fight.

The two men, aged in their forties, were allegedly brawling when one bit the other’s ear, causing him to lose part of it.

“One of the males’ ears has been bitten, with a piece removed,” Sergeant Brendan Rondoe said.

“Police attended and all parties were intoxicated. The piece of his ear was recovered and and sent with the victim to the hospital.

“But it could not be reattached.”

Sergeant Rondoe said an ongoing investigation into the incident had found the two men had conflicting versions of what occurred between them.
