JUST seven days after Christmas and it seems supermarkets are already gearing us up for Easter.
Our stomachs might still be digesting turkey and trifle but on Friday supermarket giant Woolworths stacked its shelves with delicious hot cross buns, with Coles following suit on Monday.
Some might think it is a little to early for the Easter delight, however both supermarkets have said they are simply meeting customer demand.
“Our customers have told us that our hot cross buns taste so good, they want to get hold of them as early as possible,” a Coles spokesperson said.
A Woolworths spokesperson echoed these thoughts.
“They are extremely popular, our customers love them, and they are one of our highest selling bakery items in the lead up to Easter,” the spokesperson said.
