Locals embrace new fitness trends

NEW methods of fitness training are being adopted by people in the region, according to one of Swan Hill’s personal trainers.

It comes after a report highlighted that functional fitness, body weight and mobility-based training are becoming more popular.

Donna Salathiel, a personal trainer at Swan Hill Leisure Centre, said that training has evolved in recent years and people in the region are jumping on board.

“Gone are the days of smashing yourself about in a gym or pounding yourself out on a pavement, there’s a lot smarter ways to train,” she said.

“Lots of uses of CrossFit training have become popular, lots of cable work, lots of boot camp style work outs that can be fun and be done outside.

“When I started personal training in Swan Hill everything was done indoors, but now we have lots of different sectors popping up around the town that is making use of the outdoors which is really good.”
