What’s going on with this weather?

SCORCHING hot days, unseasonal downpours and chilly mornings — the weather so far this year might have some of us feeling like we’re living in the tropics.

Since the start of January, the Swan Hill region has been on a rollercoaster of changing weather conditions.

In the first week of the year alone, the mercury hit a sizzling 42.9 degrees before plummeting to a maximum daytime temperature of 20.8 degrees several days later.

The Bureau of Meteorology’s Mildura station manager Mark Wilgar said the weather hadn’t been as expected for 2015.

“It has been a mixed bag,” he said.

Mr Wilgar said those travelling to the region would have experienced totally different conditions depending on which week they visited.

“There has been some fairly diverse conditions — a real mixed bag — everyone has experienced something different depending on the week,” he said.
