THE SWAN Hill Croquet Club celebrated its centenary on the weekend.
Around 60 Murray Valley Croquet Association members, past and present, and other guests came out to the club-rooms on Sunday to celebrate the 100th anniversary of its establishment on January 23, 1915.
Club president Julie Notting said the event was an overall success, as guests spent the day looking at old photos and memorabilia, sitting down for lunch and playing croquet in the afternoon.
Guests included Mike Cohn, President of the Victorian Croquet Association, Swan Hill councillor Jessie Kiley and Delia Baber from the Mallee Sports Assembly (MSA).
The club’s longest-serving and oldest current member Doss Jenkins was given the honour of cutting the club’s birthday cake, while ex-member Lenore Perris, who is also due to celebrate her 100th birthday in June this year, attended the event too.
Ms Notting said the club took the occasion to reflect on its history and the changes that have brought it to where it stands today.
