Elderly couple injured

AN ELDERLY man has been rushed to hospital with neck injuries after his car collided with a prime mover on the Murray Valley Highway yesterday.

The 75-year-old Koondrook man and his wife were travelling towards Swan Hill when the truck driver allegedly failed to give way while crossing the highway at the intersection of Benjeroop-Tresco Road.

The man’s wife, also in her 70s, was taken to Swan Hill hospital with a suspected broken bone in her shoulder. The truck driver escaped with a laceration to his thumb.

A section of the Murray Valley Highway was closed for more than an hour from 9.30am and traffic was diverted as emergency services cleaned up the scene.
