PARTY room squabbles like those that played out in Canberra earlier this week should be treated like a trip to Vegas — they should stay there — according to local Nationals MP Andrew Broad.
On Monday, Prime Minister Tony Abbott faced a spill motion against his leadership of the Liberal Party, following extensive speculation on whether it had met its expiry date.
But the more was defeated by a vote of 61 to 39, with many reports highlighting the high proportion of MPs who did choose to vote for a change in leadership.
Coalition colleague Member for Mallee Andrew Broad said it was “the right decision” to stay with Abbott, but it was time for the government to start doing what they were elected to do.
“There have been a lot of things that haven’t happened and we are now part-way through our term,” he said.
