IT WOULDN’T normally be considered the greatest setting for a romance story, but for two British backpackers Moulamein will always hold a special place in their hearts.
Sophie Timms and her partner, Toby Neville, have grown fond of the small town in the heart of the New South Wales Riverina, which they say has been the most welcoming place they’ve found in Australia since arriving on our shores in November last year.
Having moved there in order to finance the next part of their trip, the couple found work and a place to stay at Tattersall’s Hotel in the town’s centre, and have been getting to know the locals who come in regularly for a drink.
But for Ms Timms, a budding writer, Moulamein holds an even more romanticised significance as the place she sold the first-ever copies of her work.
Having developed a passion for writing from a young age while in primary school at her home-town in Windsor, UK, Ms Timms self-published her first novel on Amazon.com, a romance story called Fate, just before leaving for Australia in November.
