TWO men fishing in the Murray River near Swan Hill on Sunday have become unlikely heroes after dragging four young people from a potentially fatal crash.
The unnamed Swan Hill men heard the crash and ran to the scene near the Abattoirs on River Road.
They found a car upside down in a channel and immediately set to work to pull the four occupants from the car.
Police said the driver lost control and careened into the channel at about 9.30pm.
Four young people — aged between 16 and 29 years old — were in the car at the time.
