STUDENTS who have only just learnt to speak English will bravely take to the stage next week as part of Swan Hill College’s Cultural Diversity Week celebrations.
With Swan Hill’s annual Harmony Day festival just around the corner, the college is getting into the spirit with its own event on Wednesday.
This year the theme is ‘Everyone Belongs’ and staff, students, parents and community members are invited to be involved.
Last year’s theme was around sharing of multicultural food and students were treated to foods from other cultures.
This year’s program will be slightly different with Year 7 students involved in an entire day of activities.
Organised by the English as a Second Language (EAL) students together with their teacher, Vickie Merritt, there will be several different workshops, including a soccer skills workshop run by EAL students, a workshop on Indonesia, multicultural art and Koorie workshops as well.
