The hunt is on

THE HOTLY anticipated Pioneer Settlement Easter egg hunt is nearly here.

Children, and adults, will be able to join the hunt on Easter Sunday from 10am to 1pm.

For a $2 fee hunters will be provided with a hunt sheet, consisting of several riddles leading them around the settlement.

Once five riddles have been solved and the associated stamps collected egg pursuers will be able to collect their bag of eggs from the drapery.

Having run the Easter egg hunt for seven years, the settlement’s bookings, resources and volunteer coordinator Glynis Pitts said it’s always a fun day.

“It’s a lot of fun and feedback’s been fantastic,” she said.

Last year they had 250 children doing it and Ms Pitts said there are lots of local children coming back each year.

“We even get mums and dads doing it as well.”

Collecting the answers to the riddles allows for all children to participate in the hunt and with it open for a few hours, there’s no need to rush.

This year the new Paragon cafe will even be open, so parents can sit back and enjoy a coffee while the kids are hunting.

The new cafe has been modeled off the original Paragon’s cafe that used to be in Swan Hill from 1926 to 1976.

The Old Dumosa Hall has been renovated and the interior has been fitted out to resemble the old cafe.

Ms Pitts said all the volunteers who will be working in the cafe have had experiences in the original Paragon’s.
