Campsites booked a year in advance

CAMPSITES across the region were hot property over the Easter long weekend, with numerous local holiday parks reaching full capacity.

And, according to some park owners, many visitors have already booked ahead to secure their position on the banks of the pristine lakes and rivers near Swan Hill and Balranald for Easter 2016.

Balranald Caravan Park manager Dee Jess said 2015 had seen an increase in people coming to the area for the close proximity to the river.

“We have been full – more so than the previous two years,” Ms Jess said.

“[The atmosphere] is laid back and relaxing. They are happy to sit by the river on the green grass.”

It was a similar story in Lake Boga, with the visitors making use of what the surrounding area had to offer, according to Lake Boga Caravan Park manager Jason Stevens.

For three nights of the weekend, all 89 powered sites were booked out, with the park accommodating more than 300 campers.

“Looking back on the books from previous years, it has been nowhere near as busy,” Mr Stevens said.
