Capturing the Anzac spirit

APRIL 25 is just around the corner, and this year the Swan Hill Army Reserves are honouring the Anzacs with a very fitting tribute.

They have been busily practising a military drill from World War I complete with .303 calibre rifles – the exact weapons used a century ago.

Five army reservists will even be wearing World War I era Australian Army dress.

Swan Hill RSL’s Wayne Munro organised the replica uniforms and says that they are almost identical to those Aussie diggers wore in the war.

“Even the colour patches on the sleeve shoulders are correct,” he said.

Mr Munro says the uniforms are all ready to go – minus the boots.

“The final adjustment is to polish those in the right colour,” he said.

“Then they’ll be complete exactly as they were.”
