Eagles too good for Bulldogs

THE Mallee Eagles ran away with a 33-point win when they hosted Tyntynder in the first game at Lalbert for 2015 on Saturday.

The home side worked its way to a nearly three-goal lead at quarter time, before pulling away in the second term.

The Bulldogs hit back in the last term with a four goal quarter, but the damage had already been done.

Tyntynder’s Glen Gascoyne kicked a game-high six goals, while Caine Hillier (4) and Jake Nalder (3) were productive up forward for the Eagles.

Mitchell Bosward and Warren Carlyle were best afield for the winners, while David Andrivon was named Tyntynder’s best.

Players wore two black armbands, one for fallen Eagle Jaron Bennett and one to commemorate Anzac Day.

Players and spectators also observed two minutes’ silence, with a minute to remember Bennett as well as a minute to commemorate the Anzacs.

Bennett, a lifelong Lalbert local and local footballer, died at a pre-season training camp in February. He was 25.
