International acclaim for local olive oil

LOCAL olive oil company Boundary Bend Limited has been judged the world’s most successful olive oil exhibitor for the third year running, taking out the best-ever award tally at the world’s largest olive oil quality competition,

The company won an unprecedented 11 awards for its flagship brand, Cobram Estate, at this year’s New York International Olive Oil Competition (NYIOOC), held last week.

The achievement followed Cobram Estate’s dominance in the two previous NYIOOC award ceremonies in 2013 and 2014, both of which also saw it win more awards than any other producer.

At the televised press conference announcing the results, NYIOOC president Curtis Cord called Boundary Bend’s winning streak “simply stunning”.

The awards haul included two “Best in Class” trophies – there were only 18 were on offer – for Cobram Estate variations made from olives farmed at the Boundary Bend Limited groves in Boundary Bend and Boort.

The Mallee-made Cobram Estate oils also won three gold medals and two silver medals, while four others developed from Boundary Bend’s Californian olives won two of each.
