A BLANKET of red dust engulfed Swan Hill for much of Tuesday, as strong winds buffeted the region.
Coming as farmers across the region begin sowing their crops, wind speeds topping 100kmh whipped up soil primed for planting.
The temperature dropped to 12 degrees by midday, but the “apparent temperature” was a chilly -0.4 degrees.
The weather was a result of a cold front that moved rapidly through western and central Victoria yesterday morning.
Windy conditions are forecast to continue for the rest of the week, with overnight temperatures falling to seven degrees.
