Bulldogs in charge

TYNTYNDER controlled its Under 16s game from start to finish at Alan Garden Memorial Reserve on Saturday.

The Bulldogs jumped out of the blocks early, with three goals putting Cohuna behind the 8-ball.

It immediately forced the Kangas to play catch-up, and the visitors never got back into the game with the home side claiming a comfortable 72-point win.

Alex Smith-Ralph and Josh Hendy proved vital vocal points for Tyntynder, with three goals apiece.

By contrast Cohuna could manage only singles through Jack Williams, Charlie O’Shea and Billy Hayes.

Centre half back Pat Crowe was crucial to the victory, earning best on ground honours, while Hugh Broad’s ruck work again proved important for the Dogs.

The Bulldogs’ on-ball brigade, led by James Sala, was again strong while Jack Cook had a strong game up forward with two goals.

Cohuna’s Jack Rigg, Jamie Harrison and Jack Donat put in serviceable games for the Kangas.

Tyntynder junior football administrator Michael Crowe said the result had been pleasing but put it in a context of player availability.

“I think Cohuna are probably struggling a bit for numbers in fairness to them, they would have had a few Under 14s playing up,” he said.

The Bulldogs themselves had “a couple” of Under 14s playing up but were hopeful of a strong season, Crowe said.

“They’ll have a good year, they’ll be about midrange I think,” he said.
