Preparing for Beasy memorial

SWAN Hill Motor Racing Club is presenting the Geoff Beasy Memorial for VSC Formula 500s this weekend, along with the usual local support classes.

The Geoff Beasy Memorial was named after him because he was heavily involved in the club.

Geoff Beasy joined the club before it relocated its meetings to Chisholm Reserve and did a lot of work building the new Sonic Speedway track there.

He was also secretary of the Motor Racing Club and did a lot of gardening and cleaning of the various complexes out there.

Beasy was the gateman for many years, and after his death, the club named Geoff’s Gate in his honour, and there is a memorial stone nearby.

He loved the Formula 500s and the juniors, and received the June Domaille Award, jointly with his wife Bev.

The Beasy family are still involved in the club, with Geoff’s son Gary and his grandson TJ still racing.

For more on the action at the Geoff Beasy Memorial see Friday’s paper (May 8, 2015).
