District embraces Wall’s fitness program

SWAN Hill has embraced a netball-specific fitness program designed to promote team building and training and strength work for local players.

New South Wales Swifts star Sarah Wall is taking her NETFIT program Australia-wide but it is right here in Swan Hill where it is most popular.

“I visited last year and this year it’s really grown from one day to three days,” Wall, a former Melbourne Phoenix player, said last week.

Junior and senior netballers from across the region joined in on the program which was designed to specifically improve netballers’ fitness for the popular winter sport.

Wall said her bookings on Wednesday night were a participatory high-point for the program so far.

“I’ve got five classes booked. That’s the most I’ve done in a row,” she said.

The program was also challenging for footballers when Wall visited Murrabit last week.

“They joined in and they really pushed themselves,” she said.

“They were exhausted by the end of it but it was good for them to see how hard netballers work.”
