IT IS a nervous wait for property-owners in the Tooleybuc area who may be affected by the location of a new bridge.
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) have spent the past two years investigating a location for the replacement bridge, which is set to replace the ageing, heritage listed lift-span bridge at Tooleybuc.
Three options were proposed by RMS in May 2014, one of which would see the Victorian approach pass through private land.
A preferred location is yet to be announced, but is expected to be one of three options — the upstream, central or downstream corridor.
The upstream option is located about 150m south of the existing bridge, passing through road reserve on the Victorian side and meeting at Grant Street in Tooleybuc, while the central location would be in a similar spot to the existing bridge.
The downstream option, about 250m north of the current bridge, would pass through Crown and privately owned land in Victoria to meet council-owned parkland and a section of the Tooleybuc Tourist Park on the New South Wales side.
VicRoads is also involved in the project, and regional director Mal Kersting said in a statement to The Guardian that any acquisition of land would be discussed with the landholder.
“The planning has investigated three route options,” Mr Kersting said.
