Milestone show one not to miss

ORGANISERS of the 120th Swan Hill Show can breathe a sigh of relief — Friday is set to dawn bright, sunny and 29 degrees.

And with the new public holiday, big crowds are expected through the gates of the Swan Hill Showgrounds.

With everything on show from pets, cakes, bikes and cattle, the Swan Hill and District Agricultural and Pastoral Society say this is one show not to miss.

“The show is going ahead in a big way on Friday,” said Swan Hill Show vice president Tricia Witney.

“It’s great entertainment for families and there’s something for everybody.

“It’s going to be a fabulous weekend.”

Society president and budding artist Reg Packer says the Swan Hill Show has come a long way since its inception in 1893. The rich history of the show will be commemorated at the weekend with a special history display in the Showgrounds Hall.

“[The show’s] had a bit of a resurgence, particuarly in the last four years,” Mr Packer said.

“It’s getting bigger and better.”
