SWAN Hill will be represented at the 15th Australian masters games in Adelaide this weekend by kart driver Rob Bennett.
“It’s like the Olympics for the oldies,” Mr Bennett said.
Bennett, aged 49, raced karts 25 years ago but hadn’t been a part of the sport until his son Tim started racing four years ago.
“I made the mistake of having a drive of Tim’s kart and I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face,” he said.
“My fathers day present from Tim was he said he would come with me and pit-crew so having a chance to get away with Tim as father and son is fantastic.
“I don’t take it too seriously but I don’t give position away easy either.”
He has entered the Sportsman Restricted Heavy 40-49 year-old 180kg combined weight category.
“Age is no barrier so why not give it a go,” he said.
