Eye on the prize

THE Swan Hill Country Fire Authority is once again sending a team to the Australasian Firefighter’s Championships.

The bi-annual competition to be held in Echuca this weekend will pit five members of Swan Hill’s CFA against teams from all over the country.

Harold Jochs will lead the local team.

“We’re in with a shot this year I reckon, we’re going over to give it our all, so I think we should do pretty well,” he said.

“We’ve been training over the past three months in preparation for the weekend.”

The modern series of the championships have been held for over 70 years, and as firefighting equipment advances, challenges are upgraded and modernised.
