Get revved up

RIVERSIDE Park will be a-shine with all things four wheels this Sunday as the fourth annual Swan Hill Lion’s Club Show and Shine gets underway.

As well as gleaming cars from all ages and classes, punters are also promised a cracking day of family fun, with a barbecue, raffle and plenty of kids’ activities on offer.

“We hope it’s going to be bigger and better, the weather’s going to be great,” Show and Shine secretary Neville Roesler said.

“There’s a few nice cars, different cars that have popped up that we’re pleased about.

“We’re not letting on what at this stage — you’ve got to come along.”

There will be plenty of fun activities to keep the kids occupied while the grown-ups do their thing, with a jumping castle, a ‘Kid’s Corner’ with colouring in competitions for all age groups, a Pioneer Animal Nursery display and Up Up ‘N Away Balloons.

“Catering will be taken care of by the Lion’s Club — that’ll be good tucker,” Mr Roesler said.

Swan Hill’s very own up-and-coming bands Yung Gunz and Hellicity will be tearing up the stage in the afternoon, while houseboats and skiboats cruise past on the river.

“Where else can you go to a car show and see all that?” Mr Rosler said.

“On top of all the motorsport displays by the Sporting Car Club, the Swan Hill Speedway, the drag club — they do a start-up on a drag car a couple of times during the meeting — and a skiboat display, it’s going to be great.”

Tickets for the raffle are $20 or $50 for three, and entrants will go into the draw to win a brand new Hyundai i20, supplied by Holts Toyota.

“That’ll be drawn at 2pm, we draw it right at the end, there’s a great second prize as well, it’s a Beef Eater 4 Burner barbecue supplied by Origin Energy,” Mr Roesler said.

For a great weekend visit the Swan Hill Show and Shine, October 25 from 9am until 2pm.

Entry is a gold coin donation, all of which will go back into the community.
