New leader for council planning

SWAN Hill Rural City Council has a new director of planning and development, but is losing its planning team leader.

Adam McSwain was introduced as the new planning director to council at its October business meeting on Tuesday, just his second day on the job.

Mr McSwain comes into the role after holding a managerial position in community and economic development for three years at Hepburn Shire Council.

He has replaced Brett Luxford, who left council in August to pursue a director’s position at Moonee Valley City Council.

Mayor Michael Adamson said he has only met Mr McSwain once, but was impressed nevertheless.

“From all accounts and from what I know, it looks like he’ll be a great contributor to that department and he’s worked in local council for a number of years,” Cr Adamson said.

“He’s got quite a bit of experience so we’re looking forward to working with him.”
