A CONTENTIOUS proposal for a poultry farm just north of Swan Hill looks likely to be scrapped, with the applicant failing to supply critical information by the due date.
Two months ago the planning application for the proposed 45,000 chook farm in Tyntynder South was put on ice as various regulatory agencies called for more information about the project, particularly around water quality and waste management.
But on Friday it was revealed that Fisher Planning, the Mildura-based company handling the application on behalf of Melbourne businessman Huy Pham, had not yet supplied the necessary documentation, meaning that it is likely the application will lapse.
A council spokesperson told The Guardian if no contact is made by today then Mr Pham would have to request an extension and lodge another application.
The initial application was lodged in June after Mr Pham purchased the 10-acre block of land on the south west corner of Murray Valley Highway and Chillingollah Road at the start of the year.
Tyntynder South resident and anti-chook farm campaigner Ted Paynter said the mood in Tyntynder South was one of cautious optimism.
“We just lay low and hope it goes away,” Mr Paynter said.
