SWAN Hill could be placed on the Victorian triathlon map after three busy mums decided to take on the challenge of organising a new run for the region.
After noticing the successes of events like Tough Mudder and the local colour run, organisers Emily Patterson, Bernice Foott and Renee Hirst believed the scenic Murray Riverside could attract a large group of fitness enthusiasts from around the state.
The ladies, in conjunction with the Swan Hill Football Netball Club, will kick off the event in February next year as the Voyage Fitness Riverside Tri.
Ms Foott told The Guardian she thought it was time to bring events of this kind to the area on a permanent basis.
“I think we have catered for the different fitness levels and… Swan Hill needs something like this and we want to help people get fit and stimulate businesses,” she said.
“We have spent six months preparing and talking with people so we can run it successfully and safely.
“I think this will be something different and there are people here looking for different challenges and things to work towards … the success of the colour run highlights that people are looking for something different from their normal sports.”
