Yabbie Man rides again

SWAN HILL community opened their hearts and wallets yesterday for a man who is almost as iconic to the town as The Big Cod.

Dean Billman, known as Deano or more famously Yabbie Man, had his bike stolen from outside his home on Monday afternoon.

Dean said he had just popped inside for no more than ten minutes and left the bike leaning against his fence. When he came back out the bike was gone and there was no sign of the thief.

“It’s my own fault really, I shouldn’t have left it there,” he said.

Dean is well known throughout the community as the friendly, happy guy who always has a kind word and a smile for everyone.

He is also known for his yabby expeditions which he readily shares tales of with anyone who has the time to listen.

The community were shocked when they discovered that such a kind hearted local had been victim to such a heartless theft.

Supercheap Auto’s assistant manager Brendan Bushell was disgusted by the crime.
