Archery’s dream start

WATCHING on like a proud father, the man behind the Swan Hill Archery Club could barely contain his excitement as 41 shooters took to the course — a number doubling his expectations of 20.

The first ever meet for the club was met with cool, windy conditions and president Jason I’Anson could not believe how successful the event had turned out to be.

A total of 41 people wanted to challenge their shooting skills — including 12 juniors — a far cry from the 20 expected to make their way to the Heart of the Murray.

“It is the first ever time we have shot here in Swan Hill on our grounds and it makes me feel like a proud father at the moment,” I’Anson said.

“Everyone is proud of this, I have been concentrating on just getting it up and running but I think when it is all over, it will hit me.

“We are going to try and have two big events, like today, but next year it will be one Saturday and one Sunday a month for training and practice.

“We have recently gone from four members to 32, it is awesome.”
