Broad trumped by hair

ALTHOUGH it hasn’t seemed to have stopped US presidential candidate Donald Trump, Member for Mallee Andrew Broad has confirmed he won’t be contesting for The Nationals’ party leadership due to a bad haircut.

Of course, his reasoning was tongue-in-cheek when caught on camera yesterday afternoon.

“I can rule myself out … I’ve got a shocking haircut so no one is going to vote for me,” he said outside of Parliament House in Canberra yesterday afternoon.

When speaking with The Guardian, Mr Broad confessed that he was too busy with his constituents.

“There may come a time when I chuck my hat in the ring but I think this is a little bit too early,” he said.

The party leadership is up for grabs after Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss announced his retirement after 26 years yesterday morning.

Mr Broad believes he will better serve the citizens of the Mallee by being present, rather than leading The Nationals.
