THE region’s Country Fire Authority, District 18, is ramping up its facilities across the board with an extension here in Swan Hill and a new station building in Ultima.
The extension in Swan Hill has been funded mostly by the Swan Hill brigade through fundraisers.
“Completion would be expected within the next month,” CFA District 18 operations manager John Bigham said.
“All the fundraising they’ve done around the town is going towards this extension at the fire station.”
CFA volunteer Nipper Turner said that 10 years worth of fundraising had gone into the makeover, including fire equipment servicing, hosting competitions, raffles at the Federal Hotel, delivering fruit fly traps and more.
“It’s important for the community to see that they’ve put this money back into the facilities,” Mr Bigham said.
