Colour run raises thousands for hospice

“SWEATY, grimy, grins” was how one Swan Hill Colour Your Run (CYR) organiser has described the aftermath of the powder-filled event at the weekend.

Yvonne Jennings also revealed the much-anticipated fun run, which saw over 1100 Swan Hill residents of all shapes and sizes run around Riverside Park, has raised in the vicinity of $25,000 for the future Swan Hill Hospice.

“It’s between $20,000 and $25,000,” she said.

“We’re having a meeting in a fortnight [to confirm the total].”

It’s the second time Swan Hill has hosted a colour fun run, after SuniTAFE Diploma of Community Services Work students held one in 2014.

However it’s the first since the establishment of the Swan Hill Farmers Market, and many of the hot but happy colour runners headed through the gates to pick up a well-deserved snack after the event.

Youth Inc kept the mood high with music blaring over the sound system and random colour bombings, coordinated by emcee Jade Ficarra, ensured everyone was kept in a constant state of powder.

Best of all, the happenings were captured on a drone hovering high in the sky.
