The 48-year-old victim answered a knock on his door at 1.30am on Tuesday, when he was assaulted by a man wielding a small axe.

The man forced his entry into the home before stealing perscription medication.

The thief was described as around 25 years old, six foot tall, unshaven with a bit of a goatee and of Aboriginal appearance.

He was wearing long pants and a white or cream coloured t-shirt.
