Colour inspires restoration

GREEN Lake was injected with a rainbow of colour at the weekend following the success of the inaugural Green Lake Just Add Colour fun run.

While the lake has been dry for around 15 years, with the exception of some isolated flooding, the Sea Lake community has banded together in a bid to return the recreational ground back to its former glory.

On Sunday the grounds were a hive of activity as hundreds of people flocked to the site to raise much-needed funds in the hope that the lake bed can be resurfaced.

A group of Tyrrell College Year 10 students were the driving force behind the colour run.

They initiated the colourful fundraiser having participated in the Alpine School’s 10-week leadership program last year.

The Alpine experience aims to provide an intensive, high quality leadership and enterprise program, with participants encouraged to execute their own community event upon their return home.
