Shrooms, drugs found at Confest

TWENTY-eight people were found to be in the possession of drugs at the annual Confest music festival held near Moulamein, with one woman charged for possessing magic mushrooms.

Deniliquin police conducted a drug detection operation at the alternative music festival, which has been held at Woorooma throughout the past week, last Wednesday and Thursday.

With the help of extra personnel from across the Southern Region and four drug detection dogs, police made 28 detections.

Of those, 24 cautions were issued for the possession of cannabis and three people were summoned to appear in court at a later date.

One woman was arrested, interviewed, charged and bailed for being in the possession of 25 grams of the drug psilocybin, known colloquially as ‘magic mushrooms’.
