Tooleybuc school turns 100

ANOTHER of the district’s schools will be celebrating its centenary of existence when Tooleybuc Central School holds its 100th birthday festivities this weekend.

More than 550 people have registered to attend the centenary event on Saturday night.

The milestone marks the district’s second centenary celebration in four months after Nyah District Primary School held its celebrations in November.

“We expect a lot of people to come through and catch up with people and have a look at our school and how it’s changed, and see their old friends,” school principal Melanie Wait said.

“On the day we’ll have an official ceremony, we’ve got the opening of our training centre and we’ve also got the NSW Minister for Education, Adrian Piccoli, coming to speak to the assembly.

“The most overwhelming feeling that we’ve been experiencing is just how fondly people remember their time at the school here, and the friendships they’ve made during that time.”
