OVER the course of almost 30 years, one Swan Hill blood donor has donated 28 litres — the equivalent quantity of blood found in the bodies of four healthy adults.
Kerryn Pianura has been a regular donor since 1988, when she was dragged along to a South Melbourne blood donation clinic by a friend.
Ms Pianura rolled up her sleeves to make her 58th donation at the Australian Red Cross mobile blood donor centre on Friday but told The Guardian the deed was no big deal.
“It is a very small part of my day, it doesn’t cost me anything and it makes a big difference to a lot of people,” Ms Pianura said.
“I find it extremely easy — you just sit there. Then I take a cookie back to work as bragging rights.”
