MEMBER for Mallee Andrew Broad has addressed the talk of a double dissolution election after Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull all but confirmed a July 2 date yesterday.
On Monday, the Senate again voted down a key piece of industrial relations legislation, handing Mr Turnbull the reins to dissolve both houses of parliament and call an election.
Speaking to The Guardian from Canberra yesterday, Mr Broad indicated he believed Australia would head to the polls on Saturday, July 2 — the date of his 41st birthday.
“From all intents and purposes it appears to be the case there will be an election (on July 2),” he said.
