Farm thefts: man charged

A EUSTON man is in custody and further arrests are likely as a result of ongoing police investigations into a series of farm thefts across Sunraysia and Swan Hill.

Police from Mildura, Swan Hill, Robinvale and NSW are investigating a series of burglaries committed at rural properties over several months, mainly focused in the Robinvale, Euston, Swan Hill, Colignan and Tooleybuc areas.

The alleged thefts involved several hundred thousand dollars worth of equipment including chemicals, heavy machinery, cars and firearms.

According to Robinvale Crime Investigation Unit Detective Senior Constable Matt Pascoe, police recovered a significant amount of stolen property over the past week alone, however it represented only a small portion of the total haul.

“A 32-year old Euston man has been charged with theft-related offences and has been remanded to appear at Mildura Magistrates’ Court on May 11, 2016. The man did not apply for bail,” Det Sen-Constable Pascoe said.

“The investigation is ongoing and further arrests are likely.”

Police are appealing for public assistance in resolving these crimes, particularly residents from the Euston and Robinvale areas.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Robinvale or Mildura police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
