Swan Hill bridge opinion turning

THE tide of opinion is turning regarding the proposed Swan Hill bridge replacement location.

The Murray Downs community expressed broad opposition to the controversial 9A route at a community meeting last week.

The public information night, hosted by the Murray Downs Advancement Group, was attended by more than 60 interested parties and included an extensive question and answer session.

Conducted in the conference room at the Murray Downs Resort, the forum was addressed by the mayors of both Wakool Shire and Swan Hill, as well as representatives of VicRoads and Roads and Maritime Services (RMS).

The bulk of the evening consisted of a lengthy and detailed presentation by VicRoads outlining the processes it had undertaken to advocate for the proposed bridge alignment known as “option 9A” — located slightly upstream of the current bridge.
