JUST over $1 million has been committed for planning work on the replacement Tooleybuc Bridge in the only additional funding project announced for the Swan Hill district in this week’s state budget.
The Victorian Government handed down its 2016 budget on Wednesday, with roads and transport funding at the forefront of regional spending.
The government promised $1.3 billion for regional rail services — including the repair and extension of several V/Line services including the Bendigo line — and $260 million to repair unsafe and deteriorating roads across regional Victoria.
Of this spending, $1.1 million was allocated for planning work on the replacement Tooleybuc-Piangil bridge crossing.
