AN up and coming multi-class swimmer has qualified to represent her state in Darwin later this year as her results continue to improve.
Swimmer Claire Barr, 15, only began competing 15 months ago and has seen significant improvement in her ability.
Working with the Nyah Two Bays Swimming Club and coach Shirley Swan three times a week, the swimmer is hoping to take Darwin by storm.
Coming through the ranks with school swimming tournaments, regional and state events, Claire said she looked forward to travelling the country through the competition.
“I am looking forward to going to Darwin, the travel is exciting, my mum and gran are coming with me,” she said.
“This [is the farthest] I have been, it makes me both excited and nervous.
“I enjoy breaststroke the most … but I want to work on my 200 freestyle, I have only done that once and I want to bring the times down.
“I am finding new ways to improve, I am trying to catch up to everyone else … but swimming season is over and I am still training.”
